Why zinc oxide is the classic
Every grandmother knows the white zinc paste. There is a good reason it has been in the changing bag for so long: zinc oxide is a mineral that stays on the surface of the skin. It forms a soft, protective layer between the skin and everything that bothers it, from wetness in the nappy to the cold wind on a winter walk. Skin underneath stays covered, calm and comfortable.
That is why zinc oxide is the heart of almost every classic nappy balm. Our Sun Balm, the one with 20% non-nano zinc oxide, carries the same classic ingredient in a far richer base. And unlike that white paste, it goes on completely transparent.
Why a tallow nappy cream feels different
Our balm is built on grass-fed beef tallow, and you feel it the moment it melts between your fingers.
- Fully transparent. No white paste, no white cast. It melts in clear, so you see your little one's skin, not a layer of white.
- Close to skin’s own lipids. Tallow is rich in palmitic and oleic acid, fatty acids your skin is made of too. It melts in and leaves skin soft and supple.
- No water, so no preservative. A balm without water needs no preservative to stay fresh.
- Unscented. No perfume, no essential oils. Just the soft, clean smell of a pure balm.
- A short ingredient list. Tallow, zinc oxide and cold-pressed plant oils. You can read it in one breath.
Our tallow is always cold-processed in Belgium, by a Belgian family business working with fats since the 19th century. It is halal-certified, and every jar is filled by hand.
The winter routine
At every nappy change
- Clean gently with lukewarm water or a soft cloth.
- Pat dry. No rubbing.
- Let the skin air-dry for a moment. A minute of fresh air on the skin is a small luxury for little bottoms.
- Apply a thin layer on the red, warm areas and in the folds. A thin layer is all it takes to keep wetness off the skin.
Before a winter walk
Warm a tiny amount between your fingers and press a thin layer onto cheeks, nose and chin before you go out. It protects against wind and cold, so you come home to rosy cheeks that still feel soft.
For your own hands, at night
A generous layer on the knuckles and around the nails before bed. On the roughest nights, sleep in cotton gloves. By morning your hands feel soft and covered again.

How is it different from a classic nappy rash cream?
